The world of opera is excited by an amazing new tenor. Jonathan Tetelman was born in Chile in 1988. He was adopted and his parents moved to New Jersey where he grew up and studied at Manhattan School of Music. He started singing as a baritone, then as a tenor. He already has had sensational appearances at several leading European opera houses including Vienna, Berlin and Covent Garden. His American appearances have been limited to San Francisco and Houston, a situation that surely will change drastically. You can see him in many videos on YouTube. His stage presence is polished, and he is handsome indeed! Tetelman's voice is rich and totally controlled, perfectly at ease during his entire range. He has no fear whatever with the higher register sung with beauty and ease.

DGG has signed him to an exclusive contract and this disk is their first, a collection primarily of Italian and French arias. Superb performances all, thrilling in every way. The demanding Di quella pira from Il trovatore is stunning indeed with the final high C a feast for the ears. The recordings were made in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Sala Sinfonica del Auditorio Alfredo Kraus October and November 2021. The chorus and orchestra under Karel Mark Chichon offers splendid support. Audio is superb and completete texts and translations are included. Don't miss this first DGG recording by this amazing tenor. We look forward to future releases.
